Inside the pit, there is an entrance to a lengthy cave system that connects to the [[Buried Garden Oasis]] which is located right next the [[File:Region Savanna Icon.png|26px]] [[Savanna]] biome.

Travelling through the cave is faster than travelling on the surface and it removes all threats such as [[File:Enemy Hyena.png|28px]] [[Hyena]]s and potential [[Machairodus#Stalker Cat|stalker cats]]. The only threat inside this cave system is a [[File:Enemy Centipede.png|28px]] [[Megarian Banded Centipede]] which can be avoided by a single [[hominid]] by clinging to the cave walls to sneak past it. However, if you are with a group of hominids, you will likely have to proactively engage the centipede in [[combat]] or risk your [[clan]] members potentially being attacked, injured, or even killed. 

This cave system creates an excellent shortcut to the Savanna biome by bypassing the dangers of the Woodland biome on the surface.
