Start Construction is an action performed by pressing the appropriate button when available.
This action is the second step in the construction process to transform a stockpile of items into another potentially more useful item.
Only items that can be constructed into another item will show this action.
Mechanics[ | ]
Once enough items are available on a stockpile, stand over the stockpile, and Start Construction will appear as an option.
Performing the start construction action will bring up the option to start the third and final part of the construction process known as 
Building.
The start construction action is really just a commitment step. It is committing yourself to having to build the item using the appropriate button and you can't perform any other actions until the building process is complete. This doesn't take long but it should be noted that start construction is a minor step in construction process and you have to do this to build the item you want.
Construction items[ | ]
There are only a few constructed items that have specific uses:
- Four
Dead Branches can be used to construct a 
Branch Barrier. - Four Natal Grass Cycads can be used to construct a Sleep Spot.
- Four Thornbushes can be used to construct a Thornbush Wall.
The construction stockpile requirement can be reduced by learning the Building (NE 01) and Building Efficiency (NE 02) neurons.
Deconstruction[ | ]
The Branch Barrier and the Thornbush Wall can be removed after construction by using the Start Deconstruction and Deconstruct actions. If you use these actions, the materials used to make the construction will be lost.
