Precious Stones are items that have many uses besides just looking pretty or being rare.

Where to find[]

Precious stones are found lying on the ground waiting to be picked up.

Precious stones can also sometimes be found under Liftable Rocks.

Locations[]

Precious stones tend to be a bit more well hidden in locations and if you are willing to search more thoroughly, you will likely find these rare and valuable items. You will know you are close to a precious stone when a musical change or "siren's song" begins to play. This song grows louder the closer you are to the precious stone.

Spawning mechanics[]

Precious Stones are unique in that they have the ability to spawn again after you have grabbed them from the ground. This allows the duplication of precious stones. There are rules to the spawning mechanics:

Precious stones spawn over time in game, so the same precious stone can be collected multiple times.
A precious stone MUST be moved outside of the location where it is originally found for it to be duplicated.
If you move a precious stone within the location you found it, it will be spawned back to the starting place where you found it.

An example of an unsuccessful duplication of a precious stone would be, you find the Emerald on the rocky outcrop above the cave of the Hidden Waterfall Oasis. Your hominid moves the Emerald to the cave floor still inside of the zone of the Hidden Waterfall Oasis. You complete an evolution leap and the Emerald on the cave floor returns to the rocky outcropping. You didn't move the Emerald outside of the spawning location. There is only one Emerald.

An example of a successful duplication of a precious stone would be, you find the Emerald on the rocky outcrop above the cave of the Hidden Waterfall Oasis but this time your hominid carries that Emerald to the Buried Garden Oasis. Your hominid drops the Emerald in the Buried Garden Oasis and you complete an evolution leap. A second Emerald in the Hidden Waterfall Oasis will spawn and the Emerald in the Buried Garden still exists. There are now two Emeralds.

How to use[]

Precious stones can be piled into stockpiles just to see how pretty they look but they also have very useful functions.

Precious stones can also be used as blunt weapons. While not as effective as a Sharpened Stick, they can still be useful.

Giving a precious stone to an unrelated clan member will form a couple instantly without the manual grooming and bonding process.

Giving a precious stone to a hominid that isn't part of the clan will befriend them and they will join your clan.

Holding a precious stone will confer Fear Protection. Setting down the precious stone stops this positive status effect but picking the precious stone back up will immediately start the protection again. However, this isn't an unlimited protection. Eventually the specific precious stone will run out of protection and a new one will have to be found to get the protection again.

Finding and inspecting each of the five precious stones will complete the Spiritual Inception Evolution Feats.
