The Bateleur Eagle is a wildlife item and a predator animal.
Behavior
The 
Bateleur Eagle is a massive aerial predator, with a body larger than your Hominid. It often attacks when you are somewhere high up, like a treetop or cliff, or near its nest which contains
Bateleur Eagle Eggs. It also guards any Precious Stones that are found in a elevated area (such as the tourmaline on top of The Erupted Rock The Bateleur Eagle is very similar to the 
Miocene Pelican.

Combat
The Bateleur Eagle is a stealthy predator. With little to no notice, it swoops from the sky and viciously attacks with lethal force. The eagle uses their sharp claws and beak to inflict 
Bleeding.
Attack Pattern
The eagle is only encountered in limited areas. High up places in the trees, on certain cliff sides, and tall pinnacles of rock. Also, if you see a nest with Bateleur Eagle Eggs, you need to be very aware that an eagle isn't very far away.
It's important to note that you won't encounter an eagle during normal gameplay. You have to stand in one place for long enough to attract the attention of the eagle. You will hear a bird shriek, followed shortly, by an attack from the Bateleur Eagle. You have the option of dodging the attack or counterattacking. Depending upon where you are located when the eagle attacks, be aware that dodging could cause you to fall off a great height. This is especially true in tree tops but less so on cliffs and tall pinnacles.
If you fail to take any of the prompts following the attack, the Bateleur Eagle will one-hit kill you. You will be savaged by the eagle and killed.
Unlike other predators, the Bateleur Eagle and the Miocene Pelican will not continue to attack if dodged. While this makes it easier to get away from danger by dodging, it makes it harder to kill these animals because their behavior is very erratic after the first attack. Sometimes the predator will attack again if you wait long enough and sometimes it won't.
Whether you decide to dodge or counterattack, be aware that when you are in high places, eagles are around and are dangerous.
Killing
If you do decide to attack the eagle, use the best weapons you can acquire. It is recommended to use 
Sharpened Sticks first, 
Sticks next, and as a last resort rocks or hard tools. The more damage you can do from a distance, the better.
A Bateleur Eagle can be killed with one hit from a Sharpened Stick. However, if you haven't upgraded your combat skills with neurons and evolution, you may have to successfully stab it twice to kill the Bateleur Eagle.
Carcass
The 
Bateleur Eagle Carcass provides Oviparous Meat and Hard Bone when it is 
butchered. The carcass can be butchered two times. To butcher a carcass more than once, all the items dropped from the previous butchering must be picked up. Do note that if you kill the bird in a tree it will be pushed to the floor forcing you to search. It has been documented that predators will feast on dead animals so be wary.
Interactions With Other Animals
When different animals get in close proximity to each other, they can attack and kill each other. Animals can fight each other on their own or you can cause them to move nearer to each other to initiate combat. Some of these methods are 
intimidation to scare them towards another animal, have them chase you and you run past another animal, or perform a dodge and the animal runs towards another animal.
When animals fight each other, a cut-scene will play showing one animal attacking and killing the other. There are a large number of Evolution Feats that deal specifically with trying to cause animals to fight and kill each other.
The Bateleur Eagle is a formidable foe but is a solitary hunter. The eagle doesn't seek out combat and won't interact with other animals.
Can Kill
The Bateleur Eagle doesn't go after other animals. This animal isn't found in areas with other enemies and only hunts hominids.
Can Be Killed By
The Bateleur Eagle isn't found in areas with other animals where it can be killed. The eagle can just fly away to its nest located well out of the range of the danger of other animals.
Trivia
- A Bateleur eagle is present in the intro cutscene, killing an elder Hominid and casting the baby down into the jungle to start the game.
- While this species is real, it is much smaller in real life.
